Appraisals

Appraisal PhotoOur GIA Graduate Gemologist, Gary Van Sipma, has over 30 years of experience appraising fine jewelry. Each item is thoroughly examined, described, and valued based on American Gem Society and GIA standards.

Our appraisals are structured for insurance, retail, estate, or personal use. Each completed appraisal document consists of fully detailed descriptions for each item along with color photos. Diamonds of one carat or larger will also have a comprehensive mapping of any imperfections for more detailed identification purposes.

Our certified AGS Gemologist will provide you with accurate and precise descriptions of your jewelry and diamonds to ensure your insurance company will replace your items accordingly if they are ever lost or damaged.

You may bring in your jewelry for appraisal at any time and will be asked to leave it for at least two days to allow our appraiser to thoroughly examine your items. Upon completion, our appraiser will provide a permanent appraisal for you, your insurance company and we will also keep a duplicate copy in our files along with any notes we have made. Our appraisal fees are based upon the number of items and amount of time involved. We will always provide an estimate before we proceed with any work.

As part of our appraisal work, we also consult with customers at the time of take-in to help sort through both fine and costume jewelry in order to help determine what you need to leave for appraisal. If you are in doubt about the value of an item, please bring it in.
