How Old Is Your Ring?

Overtime, with regular wear, the prongs securing your diamonds and gemstones will begin to wear down and even flatten out. In order to make sure your stones are secure, we may recommend one of the following repairs:

  • Worn prongs may need to be retipped, which will reinforce the top of your prongs to secure your stones.

  • If one prong is broken, chipped or bent, we may need to build a new prong to hold your diamond or gemstone in place.

  • If your ring is more than 8-10 years old, we may suggest a brand new head, which will replace your old prongs with fresh new metal for your center diamond.

  • We recommend having your ring checked every 6-12 months so we can determine how the prongs are wearing over time.
